Federal banking guidelines require that all financial institutions provide their customers with a more secure method of logging on to Internet banking services. The Bank of Monticello/Bank of Evansville is committed to protecting the confidentiality of your sensitive information and has chosen a security application called PassMark for our Internet banking customers. PassMark will use computer forensics to recognize your computer. In addition, through the use of an assigned image, you will be able to verify that the website you are on is really the Bank’s site.
The Bank of Monticello/Bank of Evansville plans to implement PassMark on January 29, 2007. Users logging on to Internet banking on or after that date will need to enroll in PassMark by following these steps:
- Enter your access ID. This will be the same access ID that you currently use to access Internet banking.
- Enter your password. This will be the same password that you currently use to access Internet banking.
- You will be prompted to enter a valid e-mail address if our system doesn’t currently have one for you.
- PassMark will display an image that it has randomly assigned to you. You can change this image at a later date if you would like to do so.
- You will be asked to enter a PassPhrase for the image that has been assigned. Your PassPhrase cannot include punctuation symbols. However, your PassPhrase can include numbers, letters, or a combination of numbers and letters.
- You will be asked to select and answer three challenge questions. Choose the questions that you would like to answer by using the drop-down arrows. Type in your answers to the questions you’ve chosen.
- Finally, you will be asked to indicate whether the computer you are using is Personal or Public. If you choose “Personal,” your computer will be registered. This will enable PassMark to recognize your computer the next time you log on.
NOTE: It is very important that you choose “Personal” only if the computer you’re using is your personal computer (e.g. a home computer or a work computer that is used exclusively by you). Do not select “Personal” if you are using a computer that other people have access to (e.g. a computer at the library).
After you have enrolled, the process for logging on will be as follows:
- Enter your Access ID. This will be the same Access ID that you currently use to access Internet banking.
- If you are using a personal computer that was registered during the enrollment process, the system will automatically display an image and a PassPhrase. Verify that the image and PassPhrase are the same as those assigned during the enrollment process.
- If you recognize the image and PassPhrase as being yours, enter your password. If you do not recognize the image and PassPhrase, contact the Bank immediately.
- If you are not using a personal computer that was registered during the enrollment process, choose from one of the following options: (a) have a one-time password e-mailed to you or (b) answer the challenge questions.
- After entering the one-time password or answering the challenge questions, the system will display an image and PassPhrase. Verify that the image and PassPhrase are the same as those assigned during the enrollment process.
- If you recognize the image and PassPhrase as being yours, enter your password. If you do not recognize the image and PassPhrase, contact the Bank immediately.
If you have any questions or if you experience any difficulties, please contact the Bank at (608) 938-2265 or send an e-mail to tellers@bankofmonticellowi.com.
